Abu Dhabi 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games
In 2019, Abu Dhabi hosted the Special Olympics, a multi-sport event for athletes with intellectual disabilities. With the city hosting a diverse group of delegates from several countries, the committee wanted to promote the rich culture and heritage of UAE by organizing tours to landmark historical sites across the country. They also wanted to ensure these sites were ready in terms of accessibility and safety and appointed DASS Solutions to conduct access audits.
From ancient forts in Ras Al Khaimah to museums and heritage landmarks across the UAE, we toured and assessed 14 sites. Our final report outlined key improvements and practical strategies to enhance accessibility and makes these sites feel inclusive for visitors of all abilities.
